“Go birds, fuck ICE, and free Palestine!”: Hannah Einbinder didn’t let her first Emmys victory speech go to waste.

Hannah Einbinder of “Hacks” didn’t let her first Emmys victory speech go to waste, attacking Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and calling for Palestine to be free.

“I just wanna say, finally: Go birds [Philadelphia Eagles], fuck ICE, and free Palestine! Thank you,” Einbinder said Sunday night as she concluded her acceptance speech for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.

The actress is one of more than 4,500 people in the film industry who signed a pledge refusing to work with Israeli film institutions “implicated in genocide and apartheid against the Palestinian people.” The pledge targets institutions — not individuals — and stresses: “This refusal takes aim at institutional complicity, not identity.”

When the press asked Einbinder to elaborate on her comments backstage, she said, “I feel like it is my obligation as a Jewish person to distinguish Jews from the state of Israel because our religion and our culture is such an important and long standing, basically, like, institution that is really separate to this sort of ethno-nationalist state.”

Her remarks come as the Israeli government has intensified strikes on Gaza. Palestinian officials said Israeli forces newly “destroyed at least 30 residential buildings in Gaza City and forced thousands of people from their homes,” per Reuters. Last month, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Israel’s security cabinet approved a plan to seize Gaza City.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio arrived in Israel on Sunday to discuss the future of the conflict.
