Fox News co-host Jesse Watters implied that he wants revenge after Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk was fatally shot on Wednesday.
“They are at war with us,” Watters said on “The Five,” less than an hour after Kirk was pronounced dead in Utah. “We’re gonna avenge Charlie’s death in the way Charlie would want it to be avenged.”
“Charlie would want us to put as much pressure on these people as possible. Dana [Perino] nailed it: This is unacceptable and has to stop. And it has to stop now. And everybody’s accountable. And we’re watching what they’re saying on television and who’s saying what. The politicians, the media, and all these rats out there. This can never happen again. It ends now,” Watters added. “This is a turning point. And we know which direction we’re going.”
Several far-right figures echoed Watters’ rhetoric, calling Kirk’s killing a chapter in a “war,” and some called for action:
“This is a war, this is a war, this is a war,” Infowars host and conspiracy theorist Alex Jones said.
“I’m going to be rebuilding the Oath Keepers,” said far-right militia leader Stewart Rhodes, who was convicted of seditious conspiracy in the January 6, 2021 attack on the Capitol before President Trump released him from prison. “You, [Trump], should declare the left in this country is in obvious open rebellion against the law of the United States. They’re committing insurrection.”
