White House Press Secretary laughed off a question from Fox News correspondent Peter Doocy regarding President Donald Trump’s recent Truth Social post about Taylor Swift not being “hot” anymore.
“Has anyone noticed that, since I said ‘I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT,’ she’s no longer ‘HOT?’” the president posted on his social media platform on Friday.
“What does President Trump mean when he says that Taylor Swift is no longer hot?” Doocy asked Leavitt at the White House press briefing Monday morning.
Trump’s press secretary chuckled at the question before responding, “Look, he is speaking about Taylor Swift’s political views and how, perhaps, it has impacted the support of the American public for her work.”
“I will leave it at that,” Leavitt added.
Trump has a history of making offensive comments about women. The president also has long-held animosity for the pop star, who has openly criticized him.
Swift endorsed former President Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential election. During the 2024 campaign, Trump seemed to try to falsely imply he had Swift’s endorsement, posting fabricated images on social media, only for Swift to come out a month later with her endorsement of former Vice President Kamala Harris for president. In her endorsement of the Harris-Walz ticket, Swift poked fun at Trump’s VP pick JD Vance’s “childless cat ladies” comment.
