NSC’s John Kirby: U.S. has no knowledge of who bombed Kerman, Iran; “no indication” Israel was involved.

The U.S. National Security Council’s John Kirby was asked by a reporter at the White House press briefing on Wednesday about explosions in Iran that killed more than 100 people. He was also asked by another reporter if the Biden administration “can rule out that Israel had anything to do with this.”

“We aren’t at a point now where we have a lot of great detail on this bombing. Certainly, our hearts go out to all the innocent victims and their family members who obviously their lives are going to be forever changed by this. But we don’t have any more detail in terms of how it happened or who might be responsible for it … We have no indication that Israel was in any way involved in this,” Kirby said.

Two explosions minutes apart Wednesday in Kerman, Iran, killed at least 103 people and wounded at least 211 people. The attacks happened at a commemoration for a prominent Iranian general who the U.S. killed in 2020.
