An Iowa voter gave Vivek Ramaswamy an off-color compliment about his wife on Tuesday. “Simple elegance — that’s your wife … She doesn’t have an ass six ax handles wide, either,” the voter said to the 2024 GOP candidate. Ramaswamy was meeting with voters following a small town hall campaign event in Allamakee County and in the middle of telling another participant that his wife Apoorva Ramaswamy, a surgeon and cancer researcher, is “going to be a legendary first lady” and “set a good example for children in this country” when the voter interrupted with the remark. The Iowa caucuses are less than two weeks away and Ramaswamy is struggling in the polls — even failing to qualify for a Republican presidential primary debate that CNN plans to host in Des Moines next week, which now appears likely to be a one-on-one showdown between Ron DeSantis and Nikki Haley. Ramaswamy has previously said he expects his campaign to deliver a “surprise result” in Iowa.
