"I wish them a lot of luck": Trump reacts to news of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's engagement.

President Donald Trump reacted on Tuesday to the announcement that Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are engaged.

"Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift are engaged and the world wants your reaction, sir," a reporter said to the president during a meeting of his Cabinet.

Swift and Kelce jointly posted the announcement on Instagram during the Cabinet meeting. The five-photo post, including a photo of the Kansas City Chiefs tight end down on one knee while embracing the pop star, had the caption: "Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married."

"Well, I wish him a lot of luck," Trump responded, prompting laughter in the room. "Nah, I think it's — I think he's a great player, I think he's a great guy, and I think that she's a terrific person. So, I wish them a lot of luck."

Trump has held bad blood with Swift due to her public support of Democratic and liberal political candidates. In the 2024 election, Swift endorsed Democratic candidate Kamala Harris for president. Earlier this year, Trump wrote on Truth Social that he "hates" her and that she's "no longer HOT."

At the Super Bowl in February, when Kelce's Chiefs lost to Philadelphia Eagles, Trump said that the pop star was "booed out of the stadium."

"So, I wish them a lot of luck," Trump added.
