Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) on if he will drop out after low polling numbers: “You're going to be seeing a lot of me.”

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who’s made headlines for his “war on woke” fights with Disney World and his hard line stance against illegal immigration, is fighting for the Republican presidential nomination in 2024, but he has been finding the field crowded.

Currently, he is at 16% of the vote in a NBC/Des Moines Register/Mediacom survey of voters in Iowa, where GOP candidates will get started on their campaigns. DeSantis placed well below front runner former president Donald Trump, and tied with former South Carolina governor Nikki Haley, who is positioning herself as a more moderate voice in the party.

It’s a ten point jump for Haley and a one point drop for DeSantis, suggesting the momentum is not in his favor. Fox News’ Neil Cavuto asked him about his chances. DeSantis said, “But I'm in it all the way, so you're going to be seeing a lot of me.” Cavuto responded, “even if you sink in the polls or others, particularly Nikki Haley, emerge stronger?”

DeSantis said that “it’s not all about the polls,” but that polls showed he has “the highest net favorability of any [candidates in Iowa] by a pretty significant margin.”
