Former President Donald Trump, who is facing several counts of conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding, and conspiracy against rights for an effort to “oppress, threaten and intimidate” people exercising the right to vote stemming from the January 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol, has been using violent language to describe his intentions on his political opponents, including that he “pledge[d]” to ”root out the communists, Marxists, fascists, and the radical left thugs that live like vermin within the confines of our country,” and that there would be “bedlam” if the charges against him interfere with his campaign.
He was asked to comment on the latter comment during a Fox News town hall. He commented at length on the “violence” he sees occurring under President Joe Biden, said he never started a war, and assured viewers that “I am not gonna be a dictator.”
