Chris Christie says he would not pardon Trump if elected: “You don’t accept responsibility — too bad, go to jail.”

During an appearance on the daytime talk show “The View” on Wednesday, GOP candidate Chris Christie was asked by the panel’s co-host Joy Behar if he would pardon Donald Trump if elected president in 2024 if Trump were convicted of a crime. Trump, currently the leading 2024 Republican presidential contender, faces four criminal indictments for a total of 91 charges. This was the former governor of New Jersey’s response to that question:

“No. And the reason is because one of the things — as a governor, I issued pardons — and one of the things you have to do is look at the person; the person has to accept responsibility for what they did. Do you think Donald Trump will ever accept responsibility for anything he did? It would be the easiest pardon decision I would ever have to make as president. You don't accept responsibility — too bad, go to jail.”
